Just in time for the rising backlash to its self-createdpublic relations disaster, the Susan G. Komen Foundation—which announced this week that it would pull its funding from Planned Parenthood—has teamed up with Discount Gun Sales to marketpink handguns.
An unknown portion of sales will be donated to the Komen Foundation’s Seattle branch in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It retailsfor $429.99[sic’d]:

Discount Gun Sales is proud to team up with the Susan B. Koman Foundation to offer the Walther P-22 Hope Edition in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A portion of each P-22 Hope Edition will be donated to the Seattle Branch of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The P-22 Hope Edition has an exclusive DuraCoat Pink slide in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Utilizing the same reliable controls and firing mechanism that has made the Walther P-22 America’s top selling handgun, the Hope Edition will be a limited production pistol offered exclusively through Discount Gun Sales.

Nice try…but too late.

Excuse me, what? Selling weapons to promote breast cancer awareness? Please tell me it’s just a joke.

So here’s a thing I can never understand.

How is “being ableist” a super-bad thing to be? I mean, I see how being racist is bad. There’s no reason black men are less intelligent than whites, and associating ABILITY with RACE is basically the crock of bull racism’s based around.

Now let’s take ableism. If racism is about judging ABILITY based on RACE, then ableism would be about judging ABILITY based on… based on ability? Now, rather than being prejudiced… isn’t that just *true*? Is it ABLEIST to say that a kid in a wheelchair can’t run? I mean, true, you are being kind of a dick but it’s a fact. He can’t run, and the reason he can’t run is because he’s in a wheelchair. Now, if you say, that kid can’t do math because he’s black, well that’s just fucking stupid. Being black has nothing to do with mathematical ability.

Being confined to a wheelchair has EVERYTHING to do with whether or not you can run.

Now, ableism against mentally handicapped people is a little trickier, I suppose, but still: Saying someone is automatically less intelligent because they’re black is a) actually wrong and b) actually racist. But let’s take memory, since I have a bit of an impairment there and for once know what I’m talking about. It’s not discriminating to say that my memory isn’t as good as a guy with photographic memory. That’s just stating facts. It’s not discriminating to say that the photographic-memory guy will remember it, but to make sure I have it written down because I won’t. That’s just stating very probable outcomes based on experience and knowledge, same way you’d state that you should bet high with a straight flush but not with a pair of threes in a poker game.

Bottom line here is, I suppose, it’s trendy these days to think that treating anyone differently from anyone else for any reason is wrong. And while that sounds great as a 5-second soundbite, or a little excerpt in your yearbook, it is really quite a stupid idea to have. Everyone is different, and trying to say that they still need to be treated the same is denying that difference. Denying that differences between people exist is, in a sense, dehumanizing. I don’t want to live in a world where nobody is different in any way, and every human being is exactly the same person but with different clothes.

Diversity IS beautiful, but if you’re going to embrace diversity then you have to embrace treating people differently. Same way you don’t eat a sandwich the same way you eat an ice cream sundae. Same way you don’t drive an F-450 the same way you drive a Mustang GT500.

Ridiculous misandry.

just-smith:

Bristol Labour committee have said that they are banning men from running to be councillor and will only allow women to run.

People are talking about suing the committee to stop this absolutely horrendous discriminative move that stinks of misandry. I agree that women should not have to have such a hard time to get into politics, but that doesn’t mean that to do so we should just ban men from certain seats. That isn’t promoting equality, that is forcing discrimination. If I had been planning to run for council and was told that I couldn’t any more because I am male I would be furious, more furious than I already am that this is happening to people. If I were one of the female members who wanted to run, I would not feel like I had truly won because half the competition had been eliminated on default.

In fact when I mentioned this to other people I got told, effectively, to sit down and shut up about it. How dare I suggest that men are being discriminated against?  I am actually fuming right now. The sh*t has hit the fan big style. I recognise that women face a lot more problems in society than men do and any one who has followed my blog for a while knows that I do not stand for misogyny or chauvinism. But to deny this case and say it is perfectly fine? No. Hell no. The fact that this only got a 2 minute slot on the local news…it is beyond me.

With further thought about this, its actually inherently misogynistic as much as it is  full of misandry but there you go.

It’s definitely misogynistic as well as misandrist, but I’d caution against framing it in terms of misogyny because that would be reframing the issue.  Either way this is totally unacceptable.

Misandry is never institutionalised though, that’s our excuse for ignoring it.

Except it is, and feminists have to shout LALALALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOU louder with each passing day to be able to ignore it.

‘Anonymous’ intercepts secret law enforcement call on hacking probe.

cliffordthecorrupt:

In a stunning release, the mysterious hacker organization “Anonymous” has published audio of an international coordination conference call between the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the British Scotland Yard, revealing officers’ secret communications on investigations into the group’s recent exploits.

The FBI and Scotland Yard have both said they’re investigating how hackers obtained the conference call’s audio. A document published online, presumably by a member of “Anonymous,” reveals that the hacker or hackers were privy to law enforcement email communications, giving them access to the login information for the call.

During the call, which took place on Jan. 17, law enforcement agents discuss their investigations into a number of high profile hacks, and British officials divulge that they had delayed arresting two juveniles to prevent interference with an FBI probe.

It’s like Kevin Mitnick levels of awesome. Except for the fact that Mitnick is now a fat fuck slave.

Welcome to your brand new cyberpunk reality.

But of course. Action by nature precedes reaction. They cannot prevent it, they can only react to it.

EDIT: point proven. They have reacted; now it’s our turn, up to us to discover the changes and find out how to exploit it again.

Further testing for data-gathering purposes…

It seems the stickers themselves cannot be replicated this way, only the text position. Oh well.

FUCK YEAH, CUSTOM STICKERS

EDIT: Aw fuck, it cuts the images off. I was hoping it’d be more obnoxious.
